We do not live in the same world we grew up in. Unfortunately, what many of us used to assume about doing business can no longer be assumed. Some of the questions that James River’s clients may have when approaching us may include questions like the following:
How do I know any documents or information I share with James River will be safe from unwanted access by others? We work with all clients to satisfy their confidentiality concerns. All of our work is done under non-disclosure agreements. Our computer system is firewall protected. We will work with clients to establish secure limited access to the client’s own network if desired. We will comply with any physical or electronic data guidelines the client wishes to impose on us, including not retaining copies of data within any systems under our control or handling data in secure facilities. We invite inspection by third party auditors at any time.
How do I know you won’t use or sell my contract data to my competitors or some benchmarking firm? James River is not in the benchmarking business, nor do we have partnerships with benchmarking providers. Data that is used in the benchmarking industry comes from large providers like IBM and surveys by firms like Aberdeen, not small providers like James River. We will categorically state in writing whether we have provided services to any particular company of concern to clients. Further as licensed attorneys, we are under the duty to identify any potential conflicts of interests to clients.
How do I know James River won’t disappear one day or take on more work than it can handle? Eric Esperne, President of James River, has been a career in house lawyer working in contracts for more than 15 years. James River has been incorporated and in business since 2006. All work is performed by Eric unless otherwise arranged with the client’s prior approval. All James River consulting contracts with clients can be terminated by the client at any time for any reason (subject to other terms), if the client feels James River is under responsive.

We will team, subcontract to, and work cooperatively with these companies to provide an integrated consulting solution.
One of the great things about contracts management is that it is mostly comprised of documents, conferences and research, making contracts management ideal for outsourcing to a third party consultancy like James River. By securely accessing documents on the client’s system from our offices, or exchanging documents using our firewall protected computer, and utilizing inexpensive audio and video conferencing services like GoConference, James River can easily offer remote professional contracts management support nationwide on a 24x7 basis. We also provide on site services to any of the New England states or any of the Atlantic states down to Washington, DC, without charging clients the full hourly rate for travel time. For initial client meetings we only charge our out of pocket travel expenses.
